Ever since HM was about Elim's age, we have look forward to Fridays- trash day! She would love watching the trash truck from all the windows in our house. We are so blessed to live on an odd piece of land, and so we can see the trash truck from three sides of our house as they make their rounds. In Christmas 2007, we made some pumpkin bread for our trash men, just because we enjoy watching them work every week. From then on, the trash truck became Mr. Thomas and Mr. Joe (their names) and we try to make them treats often.
This past month, Elim has now really gotten into watching them out all three windows- he enjoys running from the window to the side door to the front door. I could not resist taking pictures on Friday of this ritual we are now passing down to Elim.
Mr. Thomas and Mr. Joe getting our trash. They usually wave at the children at this door.
I am so thankful for the friendship we have built with our trash men. I hope that it helps Hannah Moriah and Elim to look beyond themselves and to be kind to others. In their world, trash men are the coolest!! I want that mindset to remain. May they learn from Mr. Thomas and Mr. Joe's example to work hard whatever you do and to serve others with a smile on your face.
"Whatever you hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the grave, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom." Eccleiastes 9:10
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men." Colossians 3:23
